More Raccoons

Using the infrared cameras, we have seen a lot of raccoons that are coming out at night to eat the corn.  So Jack decided to get a cage and start catching them and releasing them away from here.  He caught one on Saturday night and he had it in the cage on Sunday morning but when he came back that afternoon, the raccoon was gone.  He is still trying to figure out how the raccoon got out.  He baited the trap again and caught this one Monday night.  This time the raccoon stayed in the cage and Jack picked him up and took him away and released him.  The raccoon was amazing calm in the cage and during the ride in the back of the truck.  Jack is on a mission to catch all the raccoons and take them far away.

Jack was right

I went out for my walk this morning and went pass where Darren has his feeder set up.  I walked down there and saw where Jack had set up the other infrared camera.  There were some pictures on it so I pulled out the SD card and brought it home to download the photos.  Jack was right, there was some other animals eating the corn and the camera caught them red handed.

They must feed all night.  The first picture was taken at 2147 or 9:47 PM for you non military types and the next one was taken at 0433 or 4:33 AM.  There were over 80 pictures taken throughout the night.

Fallen Tree and wild Animals

With all the rain we had last week a big Mesquite tree fell down across the road in my back yard.  It was an old tree and I had been expecting it to fall since I move in about 10 years ago but it was a nice tree and I hated to just cut it down.  Now it looks like I will have to cut it.  I will wait until it dries up a bit.  This will be a little tricky.  The main truck of the tree is being held up by some of the branches being held by other trees.  I will have to be very careful when cutting those branches since when they are cut, the main truck could come crashing down and I don’t want to be under it when it happens.

I have written many times about the wild pigs we have running around on the place.  They have been coming up in my back yard and rooting up the ground.  Darren has set up a feeder on a timer and has gone out many times with his bow and arrow but hasn’t gotten anything yet.  Jack is convinced that some other animal is eating the corn.  He mentioned this to his Brother Randy and Randy told him to get the infrared cameras he has and set them up.  I set up one of the cameras in my back yard last night to see what happens after I go to bed.  I checked the photos this morning and I had five photos on it but when I downloaded them, they were all blank.  I guess something is not set right and I will have to check it out and try again.
