Salado Creek

02232009 (Small)_stitch

Jackie has done a good job of clearing down the Salado Creek from the picnic area which opened up a few more fishing holes although we haven’t caught any fish yet.

This is a panorama picture of the San Antonio River taken from the picnic area.  The Salado Creek is coming in from the far right.

This is a flowering cactus I noticed on the road down to the picnic area this afternoon.  It was the first one I have seen flower this season.  I guess it is just been to dry around here for them to bloom.

Butterfly and horses

Margaret came down to my house the other day via the path between our houses.  On the way she spotted a Butterfly on the trail.  It was dead but still beautiful.

Margaret called me this morning and she was all excited.  She said that there was Trail Riders on the road in front of our houses.  This in not too unusual when the rodeo is in town but rarely do they travel this far off the normal paths to the rodeo.

P1030295 (Small) It turned out  to be a special group with a local Church and they were doing it for the Children.  It was nice to see all of them out riding and having a good time.

Squirrel

P1030279 (Small) I was standing at my window yesterday  morning and I saw this beautiful Hawk land in a tree.  I quickly grabbed my camera and went outside but he had flown off.  I wish I could have gotten a picture of him.  Instead I scared this Squirrel who had been eating bird seed.  He raced up the tree and then scolded me for interrupting his meal.
