Baby Birds

I went out this evening and checked on the baby birds and they are okay.  They have grown a little and have a few feathers now.  They are moving around in the nest a little and seem to be okay after having one of the parents sitting on them all day.

 

Little Birds and Little Puppies

I am not sure what is going on with the little birds.  The last two times I have looked in the nest, one of the parents is sitting on them.  I always thought that little chicks were hungry and the parents spent all of their time looking for food and feeding the chicks.  Maybe I was wrong, I am certainly not a bird expert.  I just hope everything is okay.

 

The puppies are doing good.  Hopefully we have found homes for two more of them tonight.  That will leave one to find a home.

Little Birds

Sometime last night or early this morning, the little birds came out of their shells and here are the first pictures.  I had to sneak over and take them while Momma and Poppa were out gathering food.  Look at their eyes, they are almost as big as the rest of the body.

 

Bird's Nest

I went out and checked on the bird's nest this afternoon and one of the parents are still  sitting on the eggs.  Maybe they both are and just taking turns.  Who can tell the difference between the Momma and the Poppa?

Heidi

I gave Heidi a bath today.  It was her first since having the puppies.  Giving her a bath is not the easiest thing to do for one person.  She is pretty good but if you ever turn her loose, she is gone.  I finally got it done and of course the first thing she does is dig a hole and roll around in it.

Within a few minutes you could never tell that she has just had a bath.

The good news is that she no longer smells as bad and the dirt will fall off as soon as she dries herself off and then she will be clean once again.

Dogs

Last year Heidi showed up.  A stray that someone probably dropped off.  We decided to keep her since she was such a good dog.

She does like to yawn a lot especially when having her picture taken.  I messed up and put off taking her to get neutered and we ended up with seven puppies.

We have found homes for two of them and since Linda is taking Heidi to live with her, I am keeping one of the puppies who I have named Mike.

The other day I walked out into the garage and saw a bird fly out from the corner. I went over to see what was going on and discovered a bird's nest with 5 eggs in an old tape recorder that I use for spare parts.

I was worried that with all the excitement going on in the garage that the parents might have abandoned the nest but as you can see, at least one of them came back. I think they will be okay now.

Back in Jan. 2008 I decided that since I enjoyed playing with Linda's parrot so much I would get a Budgie or Parakeet as they are normally called in the US. I went and bought Danny who is the blue one. I got him home and in his new cage and he just sat there looking so lonely so I went back the next day and got Debbie, the yellow one. The bonded right away and have been constant mates since. They love to play outside the cage on the play center and they also like to climb the drapes in the living room and sit on the curtain rod. They are a lot of fun to watch and hear.

Sydney likes to walk around on my desk while I am on the PC. She has a lot of toys in and on her cage but she perfers to play with my toys. She hasn't been able to answer the phone yet and I am waiting to see what happens when the phone rings and she is sitting on it.

Sydney likes to play on the keyboard, pecking on the keys. So far he hasn't been able to peck at them hard enough to type anything.
