Hungry Squirrel

The other day I stepped outside with my camera and this squirrel was outside eating the leftovers from the inside birds.  When I came out he started to climb this tree but he stopped and just looked at me.

I took a few pictures and he must had decided that I didn’t have a gun and that I wasn’t going to hurt him so he came back down and started eating again.  I was surprised that he got so close to me.  I was only about 6 feet (2 meters) away and he let me take several pictures.

Carolina Wren Babies

Wrens 004 (Small) With all the excitement of my inside babies and snakes trying to eat the birds and squirrels outside, I almost forgot about my new Carolina Wrens.  They built a nest in a hanging basket on the front porch.  There is another nest in the back built on one of the security lights but I can’t get a picture of them.  Those that have reading this blog will recall the Carolina Wrens that were born in the garage last year.  There was a nest there again this year but something happened to the eggs, probably the sneaky snake.  I believe these two nest will be safe.

Sneaky Snake

Snake 002 (Small) I caught this sneaky fellow trying to get close to the birds and squirrels that come up in my yard and eat the seed and left over food that the inside birds don’t eat.  I throw out the left over food and the outside birds and squirrels love it and eat it all up.  Unfortunately it also seems to draw the snakes that think they can catch the little fellows while they are eating.  Well, not when I am around and have my trusty “Snake Charmer” loaded.  Now it is a good snake and some big birds will feast on it.

Hawk

This Hawk showed up in my back yard this morning and begged me to take its picture so I obliged.  It sure was a pretty bird.

I was beginning to wonder how much I should charge for my services in taking these pictures and the bird must have sensed the bill was coming so it flew off without paying.
