clearing the land
Darren had the opportunity to rent a bulldozer at a good price and he spent this week clearing out here at the ranch. He cleared two new roads so he can set up a feeder at the end of both and hopefully kill some of these wild hogs we have around here. Then he filled in the road to Scenic Overlook where the road had washed out. Now we can drive up there once again and take the mowers up there and mow. He also cleared the road and a big area around Paradise Cove so now we can get down to that area once again.
Then he cleared off the area behind Margaret and Jack’s house and built a road so you are able to drive down there. It is now possible to drive down there and launch a boat in the river. This will make it real nice this spring and summer.
Then Jack asked him to smooth off the path that goes down to Pebble Beach. Darren did that and then decided to clear out Pebble Beach and smooth it out a little. That was what you might call one step too far or the straw that broke the camel’s back, so to speak. He was pushing close to the water’s edge and suddenly felt the Bulldozer sinking.
As you can see, this Bulldozer went for a swim and every time we tried to get it out with the farm tractor and two big 4X4 truck, it sank deeper and deeper.
We were able to borrow another Bulldozer and get it out here and that did the trick and we pulled the swimmer out of the water and all was good once again.
It was a longer story than what I just wrote but the story makes for better telling than it does reading. Ask Darren or Jack and they will be glad to relate the whole story.
